Aside from Salt Lake City, a Tahoe ski vacation is among North America’s most accessible. The Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and Sacramento International Airport (SMF) offer more than 200 non-stop and direct flights with numerous connecting flights. The airports are serviced 24 cities, not including international arrivals. Because Reno is about 45 minutes closer to Tahoe than Sacramento, we at Ski.com, would recommend you fly into there—if you want to max out your time on the slopes. Once you arrive you have a plethora of resort shuttle services or rental car companies to choose from. It takes about an hour and 15 minutes by car from Reno to Lake Tahoe. If you have any questions about your options, or are ready to book, call, or chat with, one of Ski.com’s knowledgeable Mountain Vacation Specialists.
From the airport—if you’ve opted to travel via rental car—take US-395/580 South toward Carson City. Merge onto US-395/580 South via Exit 57B toward Virginia City/Carson City/South Lake Tahoe. Continue for 29 miles. Take Exit 38/ Fairview Drive. Turn right onto US-50 West/Lake Tahoe Boulevard. Continue on Lake Tahoe Boulevard for one mile. Turn left onto South Carson Street, continue for almost two mile. Turn right onto US-50 Wes, you’ll enter California.
