On the mountain, you’ll find several zones specifically designed for family skiing. The Dragon Trail at the bottom of Peak 8 is a great experience for young kids and parents to share. The Dragon Trail is a themed run at the bottom of Peak 8 that children will want to go to time and again. There’s a fun trail for kids into “Ski-a-Lot Castle,” where you cross a moat and encounter dragons. Jump into the dragon’s lair to warm up with a hot chocolate or head back to the bottom of Peak 8 to explore more of the beginner terrain.  Peak 9’s Haunted Forest and Ripperoo’s Forest are fun trails through the trees made for beginner kids. Tweens and teens will be psyched on the terrain parks that are scattered throughout Breckenridge. Aside from Freeway Terrain Park—which is the biggest and where you can find X Games athletes and pros practice—Breckenridge’s four other terrain parks are designed to be progressive and fun for all levels.

Things to do with the family in Breckenridge 

A run on the Gold Runner Alpine Coaster should be high on the list of things to do with the family in Breckenridge. The 2,500-foot rollercoaster track bombing down the mountain, takes tight twists and turns, and is a different way to get speed down the mountain. The two-seater cars allow for a parent and child to zip around together, and a handbrake lets adults control the speed for little ones.

The Stephen C. West Ice Arena is open seven days a week and has an indoor and outdoor rink for the family to slide around on. Skates are available to rent and broom-ball games get started at the drop of a hat. The best sledding and tubing hill in Breckenridge is at Carter Park. Kids love hiking up the hill and building small jumps for the sled.

The Breckenridge Recreation Center has two climbing walls, a water slide and indoor pool, and much more. Day passes and punch cards are available. Eric’s Arcade and the Family Fun Center at the Grand Lodge have video games, bowling, ping pong tables, and more. Eric’s is on Main Street and the Grand Lodge is on Peak 7.
